What is Posevember 2025

Posevember 2025 is a month-long gesture drawing challenge designed to help artists build consistency, confidence, and flow in their figure drawings.

Each day in November, you’ll draw at least one new pose using our gesture drawing practice tool.

The challenge encourages daily sketching with minimal setup or decision fatigue. All you have to do is open the tool, pick a pose, and draw.

How Posevember 2025 works

Getting started is simple. Visit our gesture drawing practice tool to access a wide range of figure poses. Choose one that inspires you, click to open it, and start drawing.

There are two ways to join:

1. The daily pose challenge

Draw one new pose each day throughout November. This helps you develop a daily art habit without overwhelming yourself.

It is best to start with a couple of shorter poses first to get warmed up. 5 to 10 poses, 30 second warm ups, followed by 1 or 2 poses in 1 or 2 minutes. After which you can pick your final image of the day and draw as long as you like.

2. The timed challenge

If your schedule is tight, set a custom timer in the tool—for example, 10 minutes per pose—and focus on quick, expressive sketches.

If you have a bit of more time, then do a 5 to 10, 30 second warm ups, followed by 1 or 2 poses in 1 or 2 minutes. After which you can do the 10 minute pose of the day. This will show you a significant increase in quality output of your 10 minute sketch!

When you finish, share your drawings online with the hashtag #Posevember2025 to connect with other artists and track your growth. We would love to see your progress so please connect us on IG @artdrawingreference

Why gesture drawing matters

Gesture drawing teaches you to capture movement and emotion instead of rigid details. It’s one of the most effective ways to make your figure drawings feel alive.

By drawing one pose a day, you’ll:

  • Strengthen your understanding of proportion and anatomy
  • Build speed and rhythm in your sketches
  • Develop line confidence and loosen up your style

The gesture drawing practice tool makes this easier by removing guesswork. You can jump straight into drawing without wasting time searching for references.

Tips for staying consistent

  • Set a reminder: Schedule a short daily session in your calendar.
  • Keep materials nearby: Make it easy to start.
  • Start small: Even a single 5-minute sketch counts.
  • Use the timer: The built-in timer in our gesture tool helps you stay focused.
  • Embrace imperfection: Quick sketches are meant to be rough and full of energy.

If you miss a day, don’t worry. Pick up where you left off. The real goal is to keep drawing regularly.
