Huevember 2026: 30 color prompts and a hue of the day tool

Last Updated on 5 October, 2026 by Armored Pencil
Huevember 2026 runs from 1 to 30 November. Every day gets one hue from the Huevember color wheel, and your drawing only has to follow one rule: the hue of the day is the main color people see. Below you’ll find all 30 hues with hex codes, a prompt idea for each day, a hue-of-the-day tool and a printable checklist.
New to the challenge? Pick any medium, any subject and any size. A five-minute sketch counts just as much as a finished painting.
Hue of the day tool
The tool opens on today’s hue during November. Pick any other day from the menu, click a hex code to copy it, and generate a subject if you’re stuck on what to draw.
Day 1: Electric yellow

These are the 30 hues of the Huevember color wheel, in order. The hex codes are ours, sampled from the wheel so you can drop them straight into your painting app. The prompt ideas are our own suggestions and are not part of the official challenge, so swap them for anything you like.

How to join Huevember 2026
- Look up the hue for the day in the list or the tool above.
- Make anything you like, in any medium. Other colors are fine, as long as the day’s hue stays the main color.
- Post it with #huevember and #huevember2026, and add the day number (for example “Day 6”) so people can follow along.
- Missed a day? Skip it or catch up later. Nobody is checking.
Huevember was started in 2014 by Matthieu Daures, then an animation student at Gobelins in Paris. The same 30-hue wheel has been used ever since, which is why this year’s hues match the ones on our Huevember 2025 page.
Tips for getting through 30 hues
Set up your swatches before 1 November. Save all 30 hex codes as a palette in Procreate, Krita or Photoshop, or mix a strip of paint for each week. You’ll spend your drawing time drawing.
Use value to carry the drawing. Bright yellows and greens are very light, while indigo and violet are very dark. Squint at your piece or switch it to greyscale to check the lights and shadows still read.
Let the hue shift in the shadows. A single flat color looks dull fast. Push the shadows slightly cooler and the lights slightly warmer while keeping the day’s hue in charge.
Keep a small format. A 10 by 10 cm square or a sketchbook page is plenty. Consistency teaches you more about color than one big piece does.
Pair it with a subject theme. Some artists draw only portraits, creatures or one original character for the whole month. If you want to practise figures at the same time, combine it with Posevember 2026.
Huevember 2026 FAQ
Quick answers to what people ask most before the challenge starts. Click a question to open it.
What is Huevember?
Huevember is a daily color challenge that runs through November. Each day has one hue from a 30-color wheel, and you make a piece where that hue is the main color. Matthieu Daures started it in 2014, and artists have taken part every year since.
When does Huevember 2026 start and end?
It runs from Sunday 1 November to Monday 30 November 2026. The wheel has 30 hues, so there’s one for every day.
Is there an official Huevember 2026 prompt list?
No. The official challenge is only the color wheel, and it stays the same every year. The subject ideas in our table and the prompts in the tool are our own suggestions, so use them or ignore them.
Can I use other colors besides the hue of the day?
Yes. Use as many colors as you like, as long as the hue of the day is the main color people notice. Supporting colors, neutrals and a small accent are all fine.
Can I do Huevember with traditional media?
Yes. Markers, colored pencils, gouache, watercolor and acrylics all work. Matching the hex codes exactly doesn’t matter; get as close as your paints or pens allow.
Do I have to post every day?
No. Post when it suits you, skip days or catch up later. Many artists share one grid of all 30 pieces at the end of the month.
Which hashtags should I use?
Use #huevember and #huevember2026, and add the day number, for example “Day 12 · Deep fuchsia”. That helps others find your piece for the same hue.
