Posevember 2026: 30-day gesture drawing challenge with daily pose prompts

Last Updated on 5 October, 2026 by Armored Pencil
Posevember 2026 is a 30-day gesture drawing challenge that runs from 1 to 30 November. Every day has one pose prompt, one thing to focus on and a link to a pose reference page on this site, so you can open the list, pick today’s row and start drawing.
Gesture drawing is quick, loose drawing that catches the movement of a pose before any detail. You don’t need to finish anything. A page of 30-second scribbles counts just as much as a clean study.
The Posevember 2026 pose prompts
There is no single official Posevember list. Different artists and communities host their own versions, so the prompts below are ours. They build from single standing poses in week 1 to two-figure scenes in week 4. Swap any day for a pose you’d rather draw.

Draw each prompt with our gesture drawing tool
Our free gesture drawing tool shows figure photos one at a time with a timer, so you only have to press start and draw. It’s the easiest way to get through a Posevember session without searching for references first.
Gesture drawing tool
- Interval mode. Pick 30 seconds, 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes per pose, or set your own time and number of images.
- Class mode. A guided session of 30 minutes to 2 hours that moves from quick poses to longer ones.
- Filters. Choose female, male or couple poses, portrait or landscape photos, and clothed models only if you prefer.
For the two-figure prompts in week 4, set the gender filter to one of the couples options. The tool includes nude figure photos, so set Clothing to “Only covered models” if you’re drawing in class or with kids around.

How to join Posevember 2026
- Check today’s prompt in the list above.
- Open the linked reference page or the gesture drawing tool, or use your own photos, a mirror or people around you.
- Draw as many quick poses of that prompt as you like, in any medium.
- Post your page with #posevember and #posevember2026, plus the day number (for example “Day 8”).
- Missed a day? Skip it or double up later. Nobody is keeping score.
A 15-minute gesture drawing routine
If you only have a short break each day, this routine fits the whole challenge. Run each round in interval mode in the gesture drawing tool, with a custom number of images.
- Warm up, 2 minutes. Four 30-second poses. Only the line of action and the angle of the hips and shoulders.
- Main round, 8 minutes. Four 2-minute poses of today’s prompt. Add simple shapes for the head, ribcage and pelvis.
- One longer pose, 5 minutes. Pick your favourite pose from the round and draw it again with more care.
Stop when the timer runs out, even mid-line. The time limit is what keeps you drawing the movement instead of the details. Our guide to gesture drawing with quick poses explains the method step by step.
After Posevember: keep the habit going
Posevember gets you drawing every day. Drawing-Reference Art School tells you what to draw next: a 3-year plan built from free lessons, with weekly exercises, projects and a progress tracker. Term 3 is all gesture and the figure, using the same gesture drawing tool.
Start Term 1 freeTips for gesture drawing every day
Start with the line of action. Before arms, legs or heads, draw one curve that runs from the head through the spine to the weight-bearing foot. If that curve is stiff, the whole drawing will be stiff.
Draw from references, not memory. Memory drawing tends to repeat the same few poses. Real references show you weight, balance and the odd angles people actually stand in. If you find that hard, read why beginners struggle with pose references.
Keep proportions for later. Posevember is about movement. When you want to work on proportions and structure, our human figure drawing guide picks up where gesture leaves off.
Combine it with Huevember. Plenty of artists do both challenges at once and paint each day’s pose in the hue of the day. You’ll find all 30 colors on our Huevember 2026 page.
Posevember 2026 FAQ
Quick answers to what people ask most before the challenge starts. Click a question to open it.
When does Posevember 2026 start?
It starts on Sunday 1 November 2026 and ends on Monday 30 November, with one pose prompt per day.
Is there an official Posevember 2026 prompt list?
No. Posevember doesn’t have one central organizer, and several artists and art groups run their own versions. The list on this page is ours. You can follow it, follow another host’s list, or pick your own poses each day.
How long should each drawing take?
Gesture drawings are short, usually between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. If a drawing takes longer than 10 minutes, it has become a figure study, which is fine, but try to keep most of your poses quick.
Can I draw from photos?
Yes. Photo references are the easiest way to take part. Every prompt links to one of our pose reference pages, the gesture drawing tool gives you timed photos, and you can also use photos you take yourself, a mirror, or people in a café or on a train.
Do I need to post every day?
No. Post daily, weekly or not at all. The practice is what counts. If you do post, add #posevember and #posevember2026 so other artists can find your work.
Can I do Posevember and Huevember at the same time?
Yes. Draw the day’s pose, then color it with the day’s hue from the Huevember 2026 color list.
